Terms of Use

Last updated: April 30, 2026

Welcome. By using MusoKit (musokit.com) you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short.

The site is free to use

You may use the tools on this site for any personal, educational, or professional purpose, including in commercial musical work, without paying any fee or attributing the site (though attribution is appreciated).

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do our best to make them accurate (the metronome is sample-accurate, the tuner is calibrated to ±1 cent under good conditions, the chord and scale data is hand-verified), but we cannot guarantee perfect accuracy in every situation. If you're relying on a result for something critical (a recording session, a tuning before a concert), spot-check it.

Acceptable use

Copyright

The site design, code, written content, and audio engine are © MusoKit. The musical data they manipulate (note names, chord intervals, the circle of fifths, etc.) is in the public domain — music theory belongs to everyone.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site (in particular in articles and the "recommended gear" sections) may be affiliate links. If you click and purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to products we'd recommend without an affiliate relationship. Affiliate links are marked clearly.

Limitation of liability

MusoKit, its operator, and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site — including, just to be specific, ear or speaker damage from the tone generator (always start at low volume), missed cues from the metronome, or incorrect tunings from the tuner. Use the tools sensibly and verify when it matters.

Changes

If we change these terms materially, we'll update the "last updated" date and post a notice on the homepage for at least 14 days.
